NBC has handed over its latest comedy pilot The non-evil twinStarring and written by Amber Ruffin.
The multi-camera pilot stars Ruffin as a woman who is forced to step into her sister’s role as the leader of a Fortune 500 company, despite knowing little about business and the way her sister runs the corporation.
This marks the first pilot for Ruffin, who wrote a book — You’ll never believe what happens to Lacey — along with her older sister Lacey Lamar, after she and her writing partner Jenny Hegel signed an overall deal with Universal Television, which will potentially produce the series through their new production company Straight to Card.
However, steps come as Late Night with Seth Meyers Author Ruffin continued to reduce the number of episodes of his own late-night show, The Amber Ruffin Show.
Although the first two seasons of the Peacock series were weekly, season 3 had only five specials; Going forward, the streamer will continue to develop specials of the show instead of weekly episodes.
Ruffin will write the pilot with Kenny Smith, who has served as co-showrunner on shows such as the black–Ish And bought and signed his own overall deal with Universal Television in 2021.
The pair will produce alongside Hagel, with Olivia Morris of Straight to Cards serving as co-executive producer.
This marks the latest comedy pilot order for NBC, which recently handed in a pilot order St. Denis Medical, A mockumentary-style workplace comedy from Superstore And American Auto The duo of Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin.
