‘Asbestos’: Onegate Media Board German prison drama series
Exclusive: Onegate Media has picked up worldwide distribution rights for the German crime series Asbestos From Pantaleon Films.
The five-episode series launched on German public network ARD’s streamer Mediathe in January and garnered 3 million views in three days. This makes it the strongest series launch on the platform.
This is the latest acquisition for OneGate, which rebranded from Studio Hamburg Enterprises last year. There are already Prime Video series in the catalog German Crime Story: Deadlock And Lost in FusetaA crime drama based on the novel by Grimm Award winner Holger Kirsten Schmid.
Asbestos From director Kida Khodor Ramadan (4 blocks, people from Beirut) and follows a promising 19-year-old Momo footballer whose dreams are shattered when he is sent to prison after his uncle is convicted of a crime he did not commit. He is then faced with the choice of sticking to his principles and staying clean, or accepting protection from his uncle by dealing drugs from the inside.
