Ben Foster, Justice Smith, Katherine Waterston and Maria Bakalova set for ‘Floodplane’ thriller from Topic Studios – EFM

Ben Foster (The Survivor), Justice Smith (sharp), Katherine Waterston (Babylon) and Maria Bakalova (Body body bodies) is all set to star in the Topic Studios thriller floodplain From director Tim Sutton.

The film explores family trauma, environmental justice and race through the story of a man (Foster) who must return to his hometown to prevent a catastrophic flood and face the mistakes of his past.

floodplain Topic Studios reteams with Foster after working together on Debra Granics Leave no trace. Oscar nominee Jordan Horowitz (La La Land) will produce alongside parent company Annie Marter (Satan is always) Topic Studios will finance the film, with Ryan Heller, Michael Bloom and Jennifer Westin producing for the company.

Crystal Bourbeau will pitch the project to buyers at EFM with UTA Independent Film Group, which is co-developing domestic rights. The film is slated to enter production later this spring.

Topic Studios has recently brought out acclaimed films Theater camp, shortage And infinity pool at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The former, directed by Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman, won the US Dramatic Special Jury Prize and sold to Searchlight Pictures, while the latter is in theaters now.
