Bidding War Sparks Mike Schur Comedy Series Starring Ted Danson Based on ‘The Mole Agent’ Documentary
Exclusive: good place Creator Mike Schur has reunited with hit comedy star Ted Danson mole agent, A new serialized comedy, which has hit the premium/streaming marketplace, has sparked heated bidding, sources tell Deadline. The project is based on the feature documentary 2020 Chile Mole agent and comes from Schur’s longtime studio home, Universal Television. Networks/platforms I hear are pursuing the show include Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video and HBO/Max.
Shur wrote, Mole agent Danson, I hear, will be hired by a PI as an elderly man to go undercover at a nursing home. Schur and Denson are expected to executive produce with 3 Arts’ David Miner and Morgan Sackett. Universal TV had no comment.
Mole agent The documentary, directed by Mite Alberdi, screened at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature. It was also selected as Chile’s entry for Best International Feature Film, making the shortlist in the category.
In the document, a PI, RĂ³mulo, hires an elderly man, Sergio, to go undercover to a nursing home in El Monte, Chile to investigate a claim by the PI’s client that his mother was abused by the staff. While in the house, the man forms relationships with its inhabitants and learns their secrets. (Watch a trailer below)
good place which ran for four seasons on NBC, found a new, younger audience on streaming where the high-concept comedy excelled. It earned Danson three Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy nominations and two Comedy Series nominations. Danson has since headlined NBC’s comedy series City fatherwhich aired for two seasons and continued to be reruns on HBO Curb your enthusiasm.
Also good place Schur co-created and executive produced Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Recreation And, most recently Rutherford Falls, which ran on Peacock for two seasons. He, along with Miner and Sackett, also executive produced HBO Max’s award-winning comedy series Hacks.
