Harrison Ford’s MCU character Thaddeus Ross to be US president in ‘Captain America: New World Order’, says Kevin Feige
Deadline confirmed the news last October that Harrison Ford would take over the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross – previously played by the late, great William Hurt – beginning with the Phase 5 title. Captain America: New World Order. At the time, details about the characters and the film’s plot were kept tightly under wraps.
But in a new interview with EW published today, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed that, in New World Order, Ross became President of the United States. It’s familiar territory for Ford, who famously played a combat-trained Commander in Chief in Wolfgang Petersen’s 1997 action thriller. Air Force One.
phase:
This is definitely a big part for Thaddeus Ross. In the film he is the President of the United States. And with Harrison, you wonder air force one, And you think of some of his clashes with the president Clear and present danger. There is a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we will see the dynamic between Captain America and the President of the United States in a way that is incredible.
An unfamiliar aspect of Ford’s role may be portraying Ross’ alter ego, the Red Hulk. This will probably require the actor to don a motion capture suit and Hulk out. While the Red Hulk has not been confirmed as a component of the upcoming MCU films, Ford’s co-star in Marvel’s upcoming Thurderbolts movie, David Harbour, is all for it.
“If I’m lucky enough to see it, if I’m lucky enough to experience it,” Harbor told ComicBook.com, “I’m going to savor it like you wouldn’t believe. I mean, can you imagine how angry that guy in a green suit with a ping pong ball would be?”
Feige says Ford is “taking on this role. He’s tireless with the amount of work he does,” which could come in handy if the ping pong ball suit is involved.
Filming is in progress New World Order The MCU will begin “relatively soon,” according to the boss. The film is slated to bow on May 3, 2024.
