Justin Bieber, Kodak Sue Black West Hollywood After-Party Shooting – Update
Updated, February 11, 2023: Justin Bieber and Kodak Black are among those sued by two men who claim they were shot outside a West Hollywood party last year.
The shooting happened after a private Bieber concert for A-listers. Two men claim They were fatally wounded in a February 2022 shooting outside The Nice Guy venue after a party.
The lawsuit claims that Kodak Black was largely responsible for instigating the shooting, which came as he left the scene. The accused shooting victims are represented by attorney Gloria Allred.
Also named in the suit were The Nice Guy Restaurant, where the party was held; hospitality company The Houd Group; online fashion and lifestyle company Revol Group; and the City of Los Angeles, City of West Hollywood, and Los Angeles County.
Update, 5:10 PM: Controversial rapper Kodak Black (aka Bill Capri) has been identified as one of three people shot outside Justin Bieber’s after-party in West Hollywood last night, according to law enforcement officials and various media accounts.
Black fled the scene after the incident, but later called police from a nearby location to report that he had been shot. It is not clear if he was hospitalized or if there are any charges against him.
Footage captured by TMZ shows Kodak Black leaving the party with a group and fellow rapper Gunna. In the footage, they pause for fans’ photos. As the paparazzi circled, a fistfight broke out nearby, the Kodak Black Party retreating to the sidewalk where it stood. The moment is then interrupted by 10 gunshots and the ensuing clash.
Capri, born Duson Octave, has an extensive criminal record. He was sentenced to prison in 2019 for weapons possession and later pardoned by President Donald Trump.
Black’s reps have yet to comment on his condition or the incident.
Earlier, Saturday: A party after a Justin Bieber concert on the outskirts of West Hollywood turned chaotic on Friday night, as gunfire broke out outside the venue.
Police were dispatched to the 400 block of North La Cienega Boulevard between Beverly Boulevard and Melrose Avenue at 2:45 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Officer Drake Madison, City News Service.
“They (witnesses) heard a fight outside, when multiple shots were fired,” Madison said. Bieber was not involved and there is no indication that he was aware of the events.
TMZ claims the fight took place outside The Nice Guy restaurant near the Pacific Design Center, where Bieber was performing a concert. The audience reportedly included Leonardo DiCaprio, Drake, Tobey Maguire, Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian.
Among the injured were a 19-year-old man, a 60-year-old man and possibly a 24-year-old man who fled the scene. The first two injured were taken to hospital. A third victim later called police to report that he had been shot.
No arrests were made.
