Leonine & A24 Close All Rights Deal For Ari Aster’s ‘Beau Is Afraid’
Exclusive: Leonine Studios and A24 have closed an all-rights deal for Ari Aster’s upcoming movie Beau is scared For Germany and Austria.
The deal marks the second collaboration between the two companies after the hopeful deal for Oscar Everything to everyone at onceWhich has 250,000 admissions to date in Germany and Austria
Beau is scared Bows in the US on April 21st and is now set for a German release on May 11th
The picture is Hereditary And Midsomer Director Aster’s third feature for A24 and stars Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Denis Menochette, Kylie Rogers, Parker Posey and Patti LuPone.
In the surrealist movie, a paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother. Phoenix will depict man in different stages of his life. The film is the latest big budget project after the success of A24 Everything Everwhere All at One, which represents the company’s more commercial swing. Market sources indicate Beau have a larger budget than Everything Everwhere All at One But the trailer seems to position it in more arthouse territory. Time will tell.
