‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ trailer: Idris Elba hunts serial killer in Netflix follow-up film
Netflix has released the official trailer Luther: Fallen sunIts long-running Luther stand-alone follow-up movie returns Idris Elba as John Luther, the complex detective behind the BBC crime drama that ran for five seasons on the BBC.
Plot: A gruesome serial killer terrorizes London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther sits behind bars. Horrified by his failure to catch the cyber psychopath, who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.
The trailer opens with DSU Martin Schenck, played by the returning Dermot Crowley, reporting that Luther (Elba) has escaped from prison. But with a serial killer terrorizing London, Luther has a very good reason to do so. Horrified by his failure to catch the cyber psychopath who is now stalking him, Luther is determined to finish the job by any means necessary.
Andy Serkis plays tech mogul serial killer David Robbie. Cynthia Erivo also stars.
Netflix is jointly producing the film with BBC. Jamie Payne directs based on a script by series creator Neil Cross. Cross and Elba produce with Peter Chernin, Geno Topping and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment. Dan Finley is executive producing for Chernin Entertainment alongside Brendan Ferguson, Mickey Emmerich, Chris Thiquier and Priscilla Parrish.
Luther: Fallen sun Hits theaters February 24 and debuts on Netflix March 10.
