Newen Connect has promoted Alice Damiani to head of film sales

Exclusive: Film and TV distribution division Neuen Connect announced the promotion of Alice Damiani to SVP International Film Sales on the eve of Berlinale’s European Film Market.

Damiani takes over from Sabine Chemali, who has been head of film sales at TF1 Studios since 2012 and then at Newen Connect.

Newen Connect was created in the wake of TF1’s acquisition of French production giant Newen Studios in 2020 from the merger of their distribution division Newen Distribution, TF1 Studios and Reel One International.

Damiani’s promotion is part of an ongoing restructuring and expansion of the division as a result of CEO Rodolphe Buet, which saw Leona Connell promoted to Chief Commercial Officer last September, a role that gives her oversight of the international and French markets for both film and TV.

In his new role, Damiani will be responsible for identifying and championing new cinema projects from TF1 Studios and Nuen Studios Group as well as third-party companies.

He will oversee the international distribution and sales of Newen Connect’s current and future films and oversee a back catalog of 1,000 titles, including classics such as Berlinale retrospective titles. Muriel’s wedding, the piano And La Vie en Rose.

Damiani has spent most of his career in distribution.

He was previously VP of International Cinema Sales at TF1 Studios and joined the company in 2017. Prior to that, Damiani was international sales manager for France Television Distribution and Doc & Film International, and earlier in his career worked with Pyramid Distribution.
