Rami Malek To Star In Thriller ‘Amateur’ With ‘Slow Horse’ Director James House Helming For The 20th Century
Following the success of the hit Apple series slow horse, Director James House has found his next big studio project, riding the 20th century thriller the amateur Starring Oscar winner Rami Malek. While the project is still in development, Hawes’ attachment is a good sign that it’s headed in the right direction.
Gary Spinelli wrote the most recent draft. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson are producing, with Malek executive producing.
The story follows a CIA cCryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terror attack, demands his bosses follow them. When it becomes clear that they won’t work due to conflicting internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and letting him pursue them himself.
Although no start date has been set, Malek has eyed several projects as his potential next film, and this one is a strong contender now that a director is attached. He recently wrapped production on the Christopher Nolan thriller Oppenheimer, Which bowed this July. He was recently set to produce and star in a Buster Keaton limited series for Warner Bros. TV. He is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
