Rihanna teases she’s ready to drop a new album: “I want it to be this year”
Rihanna broke it off during her Super Bowl LVII performance when she revealed she was pregnant with her second child. However, one question many fans have for the “Umbrella” singer is when she will drop a new album.
In an interview with British Vogue, the Barbados-born artist opened up about getting ready to release new music and wants it to happen this year.
“I want it to be this year,” he said. “Like, honestly, it would be ridiculous if it wasn’t this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to sing and make videos. And I need proper background music with visuals. I can’t just go shoot a video of me talking.”
It was Rihanna’s last album the oppositionwhich he published in 2016. The singer explained that since then he has not released another album because the opposition was “my brightest album.” He added that he pushed himself to do something equal to or better than his last work.
“So I realized that if I keep waiting until it’s right and perfect and feels better, maybe it’s going to take forever and maybe it’s never going to come out and no, I’m not going to sink into it. So I want to play. And by playing, I mean I have ideas in my head, but I can’t say them out loud yet,” he added.
Although Rihanna has not released a full album, she has continued to make recordings such as “Lift Me Up”. Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverThe song is up for an Academy Award at next month’s Oscars.
