Robert Wallach and Alyssa Tager to step down as presidents of film and television at AC Studios, producing with Anonymous

Exclusive: Robert Wallack and Alyssa Tager will leave their positions as presidents of film and television at AC Studios, the independent film and TV production studio that sits inside Anonymous Content, when their contracts expire in a few months.

Wallack and Tager are expected to continue producing projects for AC Studios through an arrangement whose terms are still being worked out.

There are no details yet on who will replace the two, though I hear UCP veteran Garrett Kemble, who joined Anonymous Content last summer as EVP of Development for AC Studios, has reunited with former UCP president Don Olmsted, who is now CEO of Anonymous Content. Big role in light of Wallach and Tager’s pending departures.

Former Focus Features president Wallach and longtime producer Tager joined AC Studios in 2021, both originally from film backgrounds. For the past two years, they have overseen the studio’s slate, which has traditionally leaned heavily toward TV. Recently released projects include the series Shantaram Starring Charlie Hunnam; season two random acts of flightiness; Dickinson, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey Starring Samuel L. Jackson as well as the film swan song Starring Mahershala Ali.

The company’s upcoming lineup includeses characteristics the enemy, starring Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal and Aaron Pierre; Limited series East of Eden Set to adapt to Zoe Kazan starring Florence Pugh; series time bandit from Taika YTT starring Lisa Kudrow on Apple TV+; and season four A true detective Starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reiss on HBO.

Wallack is an industry veteran who joined Focus in 2016 after coming to Universal in 2015 as co-managing director of UPIP. During his Focus tenure, the studio’s films received 28 Oscar nominations, including the title Loving, Darkest Hour, Phantom Thread, BlackKlansman And Harriet. He became the champion Downton AbbeyIts film, which became the highest-grossing film in Focus history, spawned a sequel.

Prior to Focus, Wallack’s roles included managing director Europe/president production, acquisitions and television for The Weinstein Co. and SVP, acquisitions and production at Alliance Films/Momentum Pictures.

Tager’s production credit included Arthur Newman With Colin Firth and Emily Blunt; Guillermo Arriaga’s directorial debut, burning plane; Joss Whedon’s feature debut, Serenity; and Jean-Jacques Annaudes The enemy is at the gate And Seven years in Tibet.
