Roseanne Barr: “I don’t think they’ll ever stop trying to come after me”
Five years after falling victim to cancellation culture of the highest order, Roseanne Barr is returning with a stand-up special Roseanne Barr: Cancel it!Premiering Monday on Fox Nation.
The special debuted on the streaming service the same day as a documentary on his career, Who is Roseanne Barr?
Although he is on the comeback trail, the scars are still fresh from the experience of being knocked off a No. 1 television show and exiled from the mainstream.
Barr lost her television show, Roseanne, in May 2018. He posted a tweet against Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Barack Obama, comparing her to a child of the Musim Brotherhood and a character from the movie “Planet of the Apes.”
He was fired from the show hours after ABC-TV executives tweeted.
Barr is pleased with the experience, which she attributes to taking the drug Ambien. “I survived,” he told the Los Angeles Times. I came out the other end of it, finally. But it was a witch. And it was terrifying. It was. I would die many times. I guess you would call it a dark night of the soul. I felt that Satan himself was coming against me to try to separate me, to punish me for believing in God.”
Barr is still upset that he didn’t get a chance to apologize.
“Oh God, they hate me so much. I didn’t know they hated me like this. They hate me because I have talent, because I have opinions. Even though “Roseanne” has become their No. 1 show, they’d rather not have a No. 1 show During the initial call, I told them I thought [Jarrett] White was I said I would go on my show and explain it. They won’t let me. They decided I was a liar after my apology.”
Barr’s latest comeback special was filmed at the Cullen Theater in Houston, Texas. He did a brief 2019 tour with Andrew Dice Clay, but has been largely silent since then.
“Has anyone else here been fired recently?” he asked as the starting point.
That led to a defiant statement.
“I will not let the rich, the privileged win!”
