Steven S. DeKnight’s ‘Spartacus’ sequel series is in the works at Starz

Spartacus Creator Steven S. Dnight is expanding the franchise once again with a new series currently in development at Starz. DeKnight will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the as-yet-untitled project.

The next chapter will explore uncharted territory and new journeys of iconic characters from the original series. Following the defeat of Spartacus and his rebel army in the series finale, the new drama will depict a new story of betrayal, deceit and blood unfolding beneath Rome’s foreboding shadow.

Lionsgate Television will produce the new series for Starz. Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Karen Bailey and Directors, Original Programming, Giovanna Dessel and Alex Alberts will oversee the series on behalf of Starz. Scott Herbst, head and executive vice president of scripted development, and Jocelyn Sabo, senior vice president, scripted development, will both oversee Lionsgate Television.
