‘Sympathy for the Devil’: First Look at Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman in Psychological Thriller

Exclusive: Ahead of EFM, Capstone Global and Hammerstone Studios shared a first-look image of Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman. Sympathy for SatanYuval Adler’s upcoming psychological thriller (We keep a secret)

By Luke Paradise (forthcoming Lost in a mountain in Maine), the film follows “The Driver” (Kinnaman), who finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse after a mysterious man forces him to drive “The Passenger” (Cage). As their white-knuckle journey progresses, it becomes clear that all is not as it seems.

Christian Mercury’s Capstone Studios is handling the film’s global sales and has reteamed with Alex Lebovic’s Hammerstone Studios to produce alongside Cage’s Saturn Films. Capstone and Hammerstone have collaborated before Boy Kills WorldAn action-thriller starring Bill Skarsgård, currently in post-production.

“Fans can expect an adrenaline rush to see these two powerhouse talents face to face,” says producer Alan Unger. “Cage is at the top of his game and we can’t wait for audiences to see it.”

Unger produces alongside Lebovitch, Cage, Stuart Manshill and David Haring. Mercury serves as an executive producer alongside Mark Goldberg, David Sullivan, Jason Soto, Tim Moore, Courtney Chen and Waylen Lin.

Adler is best known for his debut feature Bethlehem, which won the Venice Days Award at the 2013 Venice Film Festival, won six Israeli Film Academy Awards, and was Israel’s 2014 Oscar entry. Since then, he has directed and co-written two features: OperativeStarring Diane Kruger and Martin Freeman, an official selection of the 2019 Berlin Film Festival and an American thriller. We keep a secretStarring Noomi Rapace and Kinnaman.

Cage recently produced and starred in the highly anticipated 2021 film Neon the pig and played a fictional version of himself in Lionsgate’s 2022 comedy The unbearable weight of great talent.

Kinnaman currently stars in the Apple TV+ sci-fi series, For all mankind. Next, he will star in John Woo’s action-thriller silent night and Brad Anderson’s The Silent Hour For AGC Studios and Meridian Pictures.
