‘The Last of Us’ Episode 5 will debut on HBO Max early

The next episode of the Pedro Pascal-led series will be available on HBO Max starting February 10 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT. Typically, an HBO Original debuts on HBO Max at the same time the episode begins airing on the East Coast.
The episode will still air on HBO in its regular time slot of Sunday nights at 9 pm ET/PT. The East Coast broadcast will clash with the Super Bowl, possibly due to the fact that HBO is debuting the episode earlier.

The series has been attracting more viewers of late, with the first two episodes averaging over 21M viewers. But by releasing Episode 5 early, HBO won’t have to rely on delayed viewing to connect with the show’s core audience.

After next week, new episodes of the series will air Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max, leading up to the March 12 season finale.
