The MGM+ Original Movie The Portable Door arrives in April exclusively on MGM+
MGM+’s new original fantasy-adventure comedy, Portable door will debut exclusively on MGM+ and will arrive exclusively in the US market in April. The comedy stars multi-time Golden Globe nominee Sam Neill (Peter Rabbit, Jurassic Park) and Patrick Gibson (OA, TolkienTwo-time Academy Award winners Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, No Time to Die) and Sophie Wilde (Eden, you don’t know me) award-winning Jeffrey Walker (The marriage of Ali, the Lamb of God) directed the film, adapted by Leon Ford (Griff the Invisible) from Tom Holt’s popular seven-book fantasy series.
The movie centers on Paul Carpenter (Gibson) and Sophie Pettingale (Wilde), low-key, put-on interns who start work at the mysterious London firm JW Wells & Co. and become increasingly aware that their employers are anything but conventional. Charismatic villain Humphrey Wells (Waltz), company CEO and middle manager Dennis Tanner (Neil) disrupt the magical world by bringing modern corporate strategy to ancient magic, and Paul and Sophie discover the true agenda of the huge corporation.

A Jim Henson Company, Story Bridge Films and Sky Productions, The Portable Door is produced by Story Bridge Films’ Todd Fellman (Daybreaker, Bait 3D) and Blanca Lista (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) The Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson and Chris Litton are executive producing, along with Arclight Films’ Gary Hamilton, Brian Beckman, Ying Ye, and Ryan Hamilton, Julia Stewart and Laura Grange from Sky and Kaylah Scobie and Shana Levine from Stan. Arclight Films is handling the film’s international rights. UTA’s Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance jointly represent North American rights to the film.
