‘The Only Way Is Essex’ Indie Lime Pictures Unveils Chief Creative Officer for Unscripted

The only way is Essex Indie Lime Pictures has unveiled UK entertainment vet Mirela Breda as its chief creative officer on Unscripted.

Breda, Escape to the Chateau Indy joins Two Rivers Media’s head of entertainment, a newly-created role that follows the departure of Lime’s Sarah Tykeef last month and the All3Media-backed indie’s decision to create a popular reality division with All3Media stables Lion Television and Wise Owl Films. Lime produces such reality hits The only way is Essex And Geordie Shore and accompanying scripted shows Hollyoaks And Free Rain.

Breda, whose past credits include Big brother, stars in their eyes And tenable and its former MD big brother Producer Primary, will oversee the division that produces popular factual shows for domestic and global markets. Tykeef is leaving soon to launch her own production company while Rebecca Kenny-Smith was recently promoted to director of unscripted programming for the new division.

Lime MDs Kate Little and Claire Poyser said of Breda: “With his extensive experience from format development and shaping to pitching and making, along with his reputation as a first-class creative leader, he has the perfect credentials. Exciting new role.”

Breda described the breadth of the new division’s unwritten slate as “excellent, a hive of creativity produced by some of the best people in the business.”

As part of the restructuring, Horrible history Indie Lion will focus only on specialist, premium factual and children’s TV. Lion creative directors Emma Morgan, Jonathan Meenagh and Anna Abenson are all departing.
